The filter isn't showing up

Updated

Work through these in order. Each one rules out a specific, common cause.

1. Was the block actually saved in the theme editor?

Opening the deep link and dragging the section into place isn't enough by itself; the theme editor's own Save has to be clicked afterward. This is the single most common cause: the editor tab gets closed, or the browser navigates away, before saving. Revisit Add the filter to your theme and confirm the block is present and saved.

2. Does this blog have at least one visible tag?

The block intentionally renders nothing if a blog has every tag hidden, or has no tags at all. This isn't a bug: it's meant to avoid showing an empty bar. Check Showing, hiding and renaming tags for that blog.

3. Is the filter turned on for this specific blog?

Each blog has its own on/off switch, separate from its tags. See Turning off a blog's filter. If your store has multiple blogs, also confirm you're checking the one that's actually enabled — every blog has a filter available on every plan, but each has its own switch.

4. Is there a "Saved, but not live yet" banner in the app?

Saving in the admin normally reaches your storefront right away. If a banner says otherwise, the underlying write to your store didn't go through on the last attempt. Saving again after a moment usually resolves it. If it persists, contact support with a bug report.

5. Is the theme's cache still showing an older version?

Storefront pages can be cached briefly by your browser or a CDN in front of your store. Try a hard refresh, or an incognito window, before assuming a change hasn't taken effect.

If none of these explain it, contact support and include your shop domain, the blog's handle, and which theme you're using.
