Upgrading and downgrading

Updated

Plan changes happen from the app's Plan page, which opens Shopify's own plan picker, the same one used across every Shopify app. Nothing about billing itself happens inside this app.

Upgrading

New features unlock as soon as Shopify confirms the subscription, typically within moments of approving it rather than after a delay. If a feature depended on data that was already being collected in the background (analytics being the clearest example), that history is available immediately rather than starting fresh; see Tag analytics.

Downgrading

Nothing is deleted. Settings that go beyond your new plan's limits are kept in the database exactly as they were, just not applied to the live storefront:

  • Blogs beyond the first are turned off on the storefront, but their tag configuration is preserved.
  • Tags beyond the twelfth (on a blog that has more) stop being shown, in the order you'd arranged, but aren't removed from the list.
  • Settings like article counts, custom wording, or an ordering mode above your new plan revert to their free-plan equivalent on the storefront (counts hidden, wording back to the automatic translated default, ordering back to alphabetical) without erasing what you'd configured.

Upgrade again later, even much later, and everything reappears exactly where you left it. There's no re-configuration needed after a plan change in either direction.

The trial

Plus and Pro both include a 7-day trial. If you start a trial and don't continue, the app simply reverts to free-plan behaviour on the storefront when it ends. That's the same downgrade behaviour described above, not an interruption or an error state.
