What we collect
This page covers what the app records for tag analytics and search analytics. For the complete picture, including what's stored about you as a merchant, see the Privacy policy.
What is recorded
- Tag impressions and clicks: a running count per tag, per blog, per day. When a tag is shown and scrolls into view, that's one impression; when it's clicked, that's one click.
- Search terms: a running count per search term, per blog, per day, along with how many of that day's searches for that term found no results.
That's the entire list. Both are plain numeric counters keyed by tag or term and date, not a log of individual events, and not tied to any visitor.
What is never recorded
- No cookies. The app sets none, on any plan.
- No IP addresses.
- No visitor identifiers of any kind: no device ID, session ID, or fingerprint.
- No user agent or referrer strings.
There is nothing in this data that could be used to reconstruct an individual reader's visit, because nothing about who is stored in the first place, only what was clicked or searched, and when, in daily totals.
How long it's kept
Daily counters are kept for roughly 400 days, then automatically deleted. That's long enough to compare a season or a year-on-year trend, short enough that search terms in particular (the one piece of free text a shopper types) don't accumulate indefinitely.
Tip
Collection happens on every plan, all the time; it's only reading the resulting report that requires Pro. See Tag analytics for what that means if you upgrade later.
