Billing and cancellation

How billing works

Filter My Blog is billed entirely through Shopify's own subscription billing system. We don't collect your card details and don't issue our own invoices. Charges appear as a line item on your regular Shopify bill, alongside your Shopify plan and any other app subscriptions.

The trial is the evaluation period

Both paid plans, Plus and Pro, include a 7-day free trial. Nothing is charged during it. If you cancel or downgrade to the free plan before the trial ends, you are never charged at all.

That trial exists so you can put every paid feature on your own store, with your own blog and your own theme, before any money changes hands. There is also a permanently free plan, with no time limit and no card required, that you can run indefinitely first. See Pricing.

Charges are final

We do not offer refunds. Once a billing period has been charged, that charge is final. This applies equally to partial periods, to unused time remaining after a downgrade or uninstall, and to a subscription you forgot was running. The trial above is the evaluation period, and it is why this policy can be a simple one.

This is a business-to-business software subscription sold to merchants rather than to consumers, and the trial is offered in place of a money-back guarantee.

Billing errors

A refund policy and a billing mistake are different things. If you believe you have been charged twice, charged the wrong amount, or charged on a plan you never subscribed to, that is an error and we will investigate it. Use the contact form and select "Billing question," including your store's .myshopify.com domain and the date of the charge. Since charges are collected by Shopify, correcting one is actioned through Shopify on our behalf, and how quickly funds move afterwards depends on Shopify and your payment provider.

Cancelling, and downgrading instead

You can cancel at any time from the app's Plan page. Moving to the free plan is the cancellation, so there is no separate flow to hunt for, and it stops all future billing immediately.

Downgrading deletes nothing. Anything beyond your new plan's limits is kept and simply stops showing on the storefront, and it reappears exactly as you configured it if you upgrade again later. See Upgrading and downgrading.
