Tag analytics

proUpdated

The Analytics page shows how each tag is actually used by readers, for the blog and time period you choose.

What's measured

For each tag, over the selected period:

  • Clicks: how many times readers selected it.
  • Impressions: how many times it was shown and visible on screen (counted once per page view, when the bar scrolls into view, so a tag rendered off-screen on a page a reader never scrolls to isn't counted).
  • Click rate: clicks divided by impressions.

You can look at the last 30, 60 or 90 days, or all time.

Collection starts on every plan, reading starts on Pro

Impressions and clicks are recorded from day one on every plan, not just Pro. See What we collect. Only the report itself, on this page, requires Pro. That means upgrading doesn't start a chart at zero: if your store has been running the filter for months on the free or Plus plan, that history is already there waiting the moment you upgrade.

Reading the numbers

Click rate is capped at 100% in the report. This can happen when a reader clicks a tag from a page where it wasn't part of what was counted as shown, such as arriving directly at a tagged URL rather than clicking from the full bar, so an occasional click without a matching impression is expected rather than a sign of a tracking error.

Note

If the report shows nothing at all for a period where you'd expect activity, the most common cause is the block not actually being placed on the live storefront yet. See Nothing shows up in analytics.
